PRA Health Sciences is a public, leading global contract research organization serving the biotech and pharmaceutical industries.
PRA asked Occam to recruit an independent board director. After a slew of prominent technology acquisitions in patient engagement, telehealth, and real-world evidence, PRA needed a leading digital nativist to help with the strategic integration of technology and big data analytics into the traditional drug development process.
PRA’s hire needed to be a transformational leader with experience in life sciences, but also a digital health expert with the managerial, technical, and strategic capabilities that would provide guidance to PRA as they worked to merge their new technologies with their existing platforms.
Occam placed Alex Dickinson, Ph.D., Cofounder and Executive Chairman of private clinical diagnostics company ChromaCode.
Previously, Alex had been Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at Illumina, where his responsibilities included collaborating with national governments and large institutions to develop precision medicine programs for healthcare systems. Earlier in his career, Alex led the team that built Illumina’s cloud-based sequencing informatics platform, BaseSpace, now one of the world’s largest genomic databases. Alex’s experiences in these fields brought valuable insight to the PRA Board.
