Occam Recruits R&D and Finance Luminaries to Dynavax Board

In January 2025, Occam Global recruited Emilio Emini, PhD and Lauren Silvernail to the Board of Directors of Dynavax Technologies Corporation (NAS: DVAX). Dynavax is a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company built on the foundation of significant experience and expertise in vaccine development and commercialization.

Emini brings four decades of remarkable achievements in the pharmaceutical industry and global health to Dynavax. His expertise in vaccine discovery and development is unparalleled. Emilio was most recently the CEO of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Medical Research Institute, and he previously held senior R&D positions at both the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative and as SVP of Vaccine Research and Development at Pfizer. He led the biological research that developed the first highly active antiretroviral therapies for HIV and directed multiple vaccine research teams that contributed to numerous successful developments, including human papilloma virus and rotavirus vaccines.

Emilio received his PhD in Virology (Microbiology) from Cornell University in 1980.

Lauren Silvernail comes to Dynavax with over three decades of experience in strategic finance, business, and corporate development in the life sciences. Throughout her distinguished career, Lauren has served in broadly gauged operational roles, including Chief Financial Officer and EVP of Corporate Development of Evolus, Inc., and Chief Financial Officer and Chief Business Officer at Revance Therapeutics, Inc., where she led the company's initial public offering. Silvernail is also a seasoned board member, having previously served as Audit Committee Chair at Harpoon Therapeutics until its successful sale to Merck.

Silvernail received her B.A. in Biophysics from UC Berkeley and her M.B.A. from UCLA Anderson School of Management.
